Symbolic IO Becoming Formulus Black

With proprietary software, methods and algorithms that reduce memory footprint for user data

Born in 2012, Symbolic IO, formerly known as Symbolic Technologieswas a start-up beginning in computational-defined storage solution.

It raised $15.2 million in financial funding

The company just changed its name into Formulus Black.

Executive chairman and interim CEO is currently Dr. Carr Bettis, former executive chairman of Symbolic IO.

EVP and chief architect Stephen J. Sicola who was GM and CTO of a Seagate Division called advanced storage architecture.

Senior CTO fellow Rob Peglar was the VP, advanced storage, Micron Technology and previously was CTO, Americas, EMC.

Offerings:

  • Formulus Bit Marker (FbM) technology – proprietary software, methods, and algorithms that reduce memory footprint for user data, reduce I/O bottlenecks, and inherently provide natural security of the data
  • ForCE stack – complete software stack developed to support FbM technology and organize and manage volatile memory as non volatile memory
  • BLINK software – enables a complete infrastructure to be backed up, restored, or scaled up in minutes, contains machines, applications, security settings, configurations and data – the complete machine state; 100% secure and only contain Symbolic Bit Markers and proprietary metadata
