Sungard Availability Services Brings VMware NSX to Hosted Private Cloud Solution
For Dell EMC infrastructures
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 28, 2018 at 2:13 pmSungard Availability Services (Sungard AS), a provider of information availability through managed IT, cloud and recovery services, announced an expanded partnership with Dell Technologies by introducing a hosted private cloud solution leveraging Dell EMC storage and compute as well as VMware’s NSX network virtualization platform.
For applications and data that organizations can’t move to the public cloud, Sungard hosted private cloud gives organizations the benefit of single tenant resource control along with added security and performance. It is one of the few hosted private cloud solutions in the market to leverage VMware NSX, which breaks through current physical network barriers to let data centers achieve better agility, security and economics.
Sungard, Dell EMC and VMware can provide customers with an offering that delivers the scalability and agility of a cloud with the security and performance advantages of dedicated server, storage and network devices.
Forrester1 expects the market for hosted private cloud to grow 9% annually over the 2017 to 2022 period. Sungard believes that this means companies will look to private cloud offerings from service providers to meet the high levels of performance, control, security and compliance required for their critical applications.
“Sungard AS is teaming up with our strategic technology partners to deliver a best-in-breed Hosted Private Cloud solution, leveraging VMware NSX to help meet the changing demands of an expanding digital landscape,” said Jim Paterson, SVP of product management, Sungard. “Customers can depend on s to manage their most critical applications while gaining a cost-optimized, fully managed OpEx model that will drive transformation, consolidation and improved resiliency for their businesses.”
VMware NSX automates the provisioning, deployment and management of networking and security services across environments and application architectures, and enables workloads to more easily be moved into and out of the cloud. It further transforms security by providing an added level of protection and granularity inside the perimeter of the data center through micro-segmentation, helping to secure applications against a range of attack vectors while reducing security risks.
“VMware NSX can help companies secure their data, increase control, deliver more predictable performance and gain peace of mind,” said Ajay Patel, SVP, GM, cloud provider software business unit, VMware. “By combining Sungard AS Hosted Private Cloud with Dell EMC’s infrastructure technology and VMware’s network and security technologies, organizations can create a fully recoverable production environment for their applications and data.“
Sungard enjoys the benefit of VMware NSX paired with VMware vRealize Network Insight in bringing to market services that span the extent of virtual network security, management and performance. When subscribing to NSX-virtualized edge firewall and load balancer services, customers know their applications perform at their best within a zero-trust security environment.
Sungard is a Dell Titanium Partner, one of the highest levels of partnership with Dell EMC, demonstrating strong commitment to Dell EMC and customers as they transform IT and become digital businesses. In 2017, Sungard was honored with two awards from Dell EMC, including global alliances marketing partner of the year and global alliances industry partner of the year.
Sungard is also a premier partner in the VMware cloud provider program.
