IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition V1.2.6 delivers enhanced capacity and management for large-scale cloud storage

IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition (EE) V1.2.6 expands storage capacity, delivers management enhancements, monitors tape usage and performance, and adds platform support with the latest version of Spectrum Scale and Elastic Storage Server (ESS).

Spectrum Archive EE V1.2.6 improves capacity and management for large-scale cloud storage:

  • Phase two library replacement procedure
  • Tape intermixing in pool for technology upgrade
  • Support for LTO-8 media on LTO-8 drives
  • Support for Power Systems (Little Endian)

Key prerequisites

  • Spectrum Archive EE V1.2.6 requires Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 7.1, or later. Beginning with V1.2.3, RHEL 6 and SLES 11 OSs are no longer supported. Customers that want to install or upgrade to IBM Spectrum Archive EE V1.2.3 or V1.2.4 code levels must upgrade their OS to RHEL 7.
  • Power Systems (Little Endian) are supported with Linux (RHEL) version 7.4, or later.

Spectrum Archive EE software V1.2.6 requires:

  • Spectrum Scale version 4.2.2, or later
  • Java VM
  • IBM TS4300, TS4500, TS3500, or TS3310 tape library

Spectrum Archive EE supports mixed environments, and any combination of these drive types can be used in an Spectrum Archive EE environment and the supported media respectively:

  • LTO-8
  • LTO-7
  • LTO-6
  • LTO-5
  • IBM TS1140, TS1150, and TS1155 tape drives (only FC version)

Note: The tape media in different formats or generations must be grouped and separated by tape pool.
