IBM FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R Software Delivers Migration From XIV Gen3
With cross-generation Hyper-Scale Mobility
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 8, 2018 at 2:24 pmIBM Corp.’s FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R software V12.2.1 introduces nondisruptive migration from XIV Gen3 systems to FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R systems with cross-generation Hyper-Scale Mobility.
The software V12.2.1:
- Increased replication scale with up to 1K asynchronous mirrors and up to 3K synchronous mirrors
- Support for an updated grid controller that is hardware-ready for FC to NVMe with future software version
- Support for nondisruptive scale out by adding grid elements to existing and new FlashSystem A9000R model 425 and U25 systems
Key prerequisites
- It requires a FlashSystem A9000R (9835-415, 9835-425, 9837-415, 9837-425, or 9837-U25) or FlashSystem A9000 (9836-415, 9836-425, 9838-415, 9838-425, or 9838-U25) storage system. It is preinstalled on, and shipped with, these systems.
- Hyper-Scale Mobility from XIV Gen3 to FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R systems requires XIV Gen3 system software V11.6.1, or later.
