By Francis Pelletier | February 23, 2018 at 2:25 pmThe Regents of the University of California, Oakland, CA, has been assigned a patent (9,886,561) developed by Hospodor, Andrew, and Corderi, Ignacio, Santa Cruz, CA, for an “efficient encoding and storage and retrieval of genomic data.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A new method for encoding genomic data that reduces storage footprint by two orders of magnitude while preserving acceptable quality data.”
The patent application was filed on February 19, 2015 (14/625,967).
