Qnap Tower Quad-Core TS-253Be and TS-453Be NAS With M.2 SSD and 10GbE Expandability

Qnap Systems, Inc. unveiled quad-core Intel-based 2-bay TS-253Be and 4-bay TS-453Be NAS.

With a PCIe expansion slot, the functionality of both NAS can be expanded to meet application needs, including M.2 SSD caching and 10GbE connectivity. The TS-x53Be features HDMI output and 4K H.264/H.265 transcoding to provide a multimedia experience while its snapshots function helps protect data against potential ransomware threats.

Powered by an Celeron J3455 quad-core 1.5GHz processor (burst up to 2.3GHz), 2GB/4GB DDR3L RAM (up to 8GB), dual Gigabit LAN ports, and supporting 6Gb SATA HDDs and SSDs, the TS-x53Be series provides dependable performance of up to 22MB/s R/W speeds and maintains the same performance with AES-NI accelerated encryption. The TS-x53Be supports snapshots, allowing for users to recover data in the event of accidental deletion/modification or ransomware attack.

Users can install a company’s QM2 card to the PCIe slot to add dual M.2 SSDs for enhanced SSD caching performance while also adding 10GbE (10GBASE-T LAN) connectivity. Coupled with the Qtier auto-tiering technology, the TS-x53Be helps achieve optimum storage utilization for SMB and organizations. Alternatively, users can install a 10GbE 10GBASE-T/ SFP+ card, an USB 3.1 Gen2 10Gbps card, or a QW-AC2600 wireless card based on their application requirements.

The TS-x53Be series provides five USB Type-A ports (one with one-touch copy) that facilitates the transferring of large files. The series also supports dual-channel 4K H.264/H.265 hardware decoding and transcoding, allowing users to play their media files via connected devices.

The integrated speaker allows for audio alerts and playback while a 3.5mm audio jack allows for the TS-x53Be to be connected to dedicated speakers. The dual HDMI output support up to 4K 30Hz display.

Users can use the firm’s remote control RM-IR004 (sold separately) and use with the QButton app to customize the functions of the buttons for easy navigation.

The TS-x53Be provides a variety of applications for everyday tasks from the built-in App Center. IFTTT Agent and Qfiling help automate user workflows for improved efficiency and productivity; Qsirch provides full-text search for quickly finding files; Qsync and Hybrid Backup Sync simplifies file sharing and syncing across devices; Cinema28 allows for managing multimedia files and connected media devices from a single platform; Surveillance Station offers four free IP camera channels (up to 40 channels by purchasing additional licenses); QVR Pro integrates video surveillance features into QTS, providing user-defined recording storage space, cross-platform client tools, camera controls, and intelligent IoT-based event management functions.

Users can host VMs and containers on the TS-x53Be using Virtualization Station and Container Station. Storage space can be flexibly expanded using an 8-bay UX-800P or 5-bay UX-500P expansion unit or with the firm’s VJBOD technology that allows the unused space of a company’s NAS to expand the capacity of other firm’s NAS.
