Rackspace Deploys Scality Ring Software-Defined Storage

After evlauating 23 solutions

Scality, Inc. announced that Rackspace US, Inc. has chosen Scality RING from among 23 software-defined storage solutions that it evaluated, has seen advantages that exceeded their expectations.

In the competitive business of hosting, infrastructure costs-CAPEX and OPEX both-are key to optimising profitability. So, when Rackspace embarked on an infrastructure refresh project, lowering TCO was a critical goal-second only to that of maintaining the best in service levels. And, because growth comes with success, it also required a solution that scales without limits, simply and without interruptions. They found it with Scality RING.

Not only has Rackspace seen a 45% reduction in TCO due to substantial CAPEX and OPEX savings, but they’re seeing secondary benefits with their move to RING software-defined storage, including the ability to vacate an entire datacentre, thanks to the compact storage footprint.

Software-defined RING object storage turns any standard x86 server into an expandable storage. It scales without limits and guarantees 100% availability-all while reducing cost by as much as 90% compared to legacy systems. It is deployed by more than 170PB-scale customers around the world. It features native file protocols and high-fidelity AWS S3 API, data encryption, volume and bucket data protection, data-restorative versioning, extended location control for data sovereignty, and geo-replication for DR for customers requiring ironclad data protection.
