Eidetic Communications Collaborate With Broadcom on NVMe-oF With TCP/IP Transport Solutions
Using NoLoad NVMe accelerator to be accessed and shared across network using standard TCP/IP transport protocols and BCM58800 NetXtreme S-Series storage target SoC
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 26, 2018 at 1:50 pmEidetic Communications Inc. announced it is collaborating with Broadcom Limited on NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) with TCP/IP transport.
The platform provides disaggregation of compute and storage resources by allowing the company’s NoLoad NVMe accelerator to be accessed and shared across the network using standard TCP/IP transport protocols. Utilizing Broadcom’s optimized BCM58800 NetXtreme S-Series storage target SoC to support NVMe-oF with RDMA and TCP/IP, the solution optimizes throughput, power consumption and cost for scale-out storage applications.
Broadcom BCM58800
Leveraging the ubiquitous TCP/IP protocol present in today’s data center network, NVMe-oF with TCP/IP allows data center operators to deploy NVMe-oF over their existing IP networks, thereby lowering the costs and complexity of implementing NVMe-oF. This will allow data center operators to take advantage of composable/disaggregated storage to address large, data-intensive workloads for advanced applications, including HPC and deep learning.
“Eideticom is excited to be collaborating with Broadcom on our compute and storage disaggregation solution,” said Roger Bertschmann, president and co-founder, Eideticom. “With Broadcom’s high-performance NetXtreme Ethernet SoC, we have been able to demonstrate NVMe-oF with RDMA and TCP/IP on our platform. The combination of Eideticom NoLoad FPGA and Broadcom BCM58800 provides a compelli, solution for acceleration of storage and other compute intensive workloads in enterprise data centers and the cloud.“
“Being able to showcase the benefits of NVME-oF with both TCP/IP and RDMA is key to broader industry adoption,” said Fazil Osman, distinguished engineer, Broadcom. “Leveraging Eideticom’s peer to peer NoLoad FPGA with our NetXtreme S-Series SoC we can accelerate various storage functions, and now can do that with either protocol which is groundbreaking. This gives customers the flexibility t choose what works best for their envionment.“
