Komprise Achieves Advanced Technology Partner Status in AWS Partner Network
TCO optimization with company's Intelligent Data Management
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 15, 2017 at 2:51 pmKomprise, Inc., in intelligent data management across clouds, achieved Advanced Tier Technology Partner status in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network (APN).
This achievement recognizes the success of Komprise, managing data across on-premises and cloud, helping enterprises handle data growth within tight budgets.
Komprise Intelligent Data Management enables customers to streamline NAS storage costs and ongoing cloud operations by using analytics to intelligently automate archiving and replication/disaster recovery, as well as to provide transparent access of data across on-premises NAS storage and the cloud.
By using analytics, the solution identifies the data best suited for the cloud, then transparently archives and replicates the data on AWS. Customer-defined policies are automated to move and manage data across on-premises NAS storage and the appropriate storage tiers on AWS, in such a way that users and applications continue to see the data as files on their NAS storage.
Komprise allows customers to realize ongoing operational benefits by reducing unnecessary data retrievals from the cloud. Its Intelligent Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) moves data in the cloud to the appropriate tier of storage (Amazon S3 Standard-Infrequent Access and Amazon Glacier), thereby helping customers stay within well-defined cost thresholds and reducing cost overruns and surprises. Komprise is built on a modern scale-out lightweight architecture that manages data using open NFS, SMB/CIFS and REST/S3 standards without any storage agents, stubs, proprietary lock-in, or changes to the data or control paths.
Komprises’ Advanced Tier Technology APN Partner status reflects its leadership in intelligent data management and its commitment to ongoing development and deep integration on AWS. The company has developed solutions that customers need, in order to seamlessly manage data across AWS and their existing storage.
“Our customers are managing more unstructured data with less by using Komprise to intelligently leverage the cloud for cold and secondary data and control ongoing cloud operational costs using our analytics-driven information lifecycle management capabilities,” said Krishna Subramanian, COO, Komprise. “Komprise is pleased to have achieved Advanced Tier Technology Partner status in the AWS Partner Network for our ongoing commitment to working closely with AWS and supporting our customers on AWS.”
Comments
Recognized as an Advanced Tier Technology Partner in the AWS Partner Network invites Komprise in a new dimension. Confidential in 2015 and 2016, the company gained visibility during 2017 with dozens of new customers during that period.
Founded in January 2014, like Rubrik, the company has raised a total of $18 million with private investors like Sanjay Mehrotra, currently president and CEO of Micron Technology, and Bill Moore, former president and CEO of DSSD but also famous as a co-lead of ZFS development during the Sun era.
Cloud is a reality for many years and vendors especially hardware ones try to limit the data erosion at private data center towards cloud service providers. Some others like Komprise understand the cloud storage tsunami and prefer to offer a solution that make integrated and transparent on-premises and cloud storage.
Komprise belongs to the new generation of modern HSM solution delivering the promise of ILM. It means here a solution able to provide migration - archiving and tiering - replication and disaster recovery. Te firm introduces a new philosophy with no agent, no stub, no proprietary lock-in and no modification of the data path. Data access is transparent wherever data reside.
The company embeds an analytic engine to identify and select the right data based on how platforms perform and operate. This is used for instance to select the right target between AWS S3, SIA or Glacier and the product is much more comprehensive than the classic model based on file age, file size, access frequency, etc.
The company has also introduced last October a new function to help companies address GDPR challenge based on the Data Confinement concept.
