Start-Up Profile: Resilio, Spun out of BitTorrent

To promote distributed technology to enterprise

Founded in 2016 in San Francisco, CA, as a spun out of BitTorrent Inc., Resilio Inc. raised $5 million as convertible note in July 2016.

The company was founded by three people from BitTorrent:

Eric Klinker, CEO, was president and CEO even before CTO and spent several years at Internap and Excite@Home.

 

Ilan Shamir, COO, was GM of platforms and before that VP engineering, previously in leadership positions at Check PointSoftware Technologies, Decru, ePit Systems and Senterprise.

 

Konstantin Lissounov, CTO, co-inventor of BitTorrent Sync, was at Check Point and Tyco Electronics.

 

The mission of the company is to provide data distribution technology to the enterprise. Relying on BitTorrent technology, unique on the market, Resilio extends it with centralized management and control required for modern IT.

The firm promotes three products to deliver the consolidation, distribution and synchronization of data: Connect for enterprises with real advanced features, Sync Business and Sync Home with a family flavor. These tools also offer APIs to integrate the technology with customs applications and the company started an OEM program and companies like OneHub, GlobalScape, Sphere3D and Overland Storage use it.
