NVMe Over Fabrics Ethernet Test Platform by SANBlaze

Appliance allows dual port 2.5" NVMe drives to be connected to host system.

SANBlaze Technology Inc. announced support for Non-Volatile Memory Express over Fabrics (NVMf) Ethernet test solution is available in the latest version of VirtuaLUN.

Having already released FC-NVMe for FC networks, this adds NVMe test support for 25/50/100GbE networks utilizing the RoCE/RDMA transports on Mellanox Connect-X adapters.

NVMf extends the reach of NVMe flash drives over existing Ethernet transport, providing a foundation for improved storage performance and enhanced use of existing SAN infrastructure. Using RDMA with NVMf includes any of the RDMA technologies, including IB, RoCE and iWARP. The development of NVMf with RDMA is defined by a technical sub-group of the NVM Express organization.

Supplementing our FC-NVMe validation solutions with NVMe over Fabrics using RDMA capabilities will continue to meet our customers’ needs and stay aligned with their roadmaps. It is the primary focus of ours to maintain and build our partnerships with both leading storage providers, large scale data centers and storage start-ups,” stated Mitul Patel, senior product manager, SANBlaze.

NVMe provides a standards-based approach for PCIe solid-state storage access that improves performance by reducing latency and streamlining the command set, while providing support for security and end-to-end data protection.

NVMf defines a mechanism to utilize NVMe devices in large-scale, shared storage deployments. It also provides investment protection by allowing the latest in innovations and advances in low latency SSD flash to be used over proven Ethernet networks. This enables the NVMe storage devices to be shared, pooled, and managed more effectively.

The company offer NVMf with RDMA over RoCE functionality now, via our ‘Early Adoption’ software program. Early adopters will have the advantage of accelerating their development schedules through the use of SANBlaze Emulation capability to facilitate and enhance the development process in a true NVMe Fabric environment.
