IBM Cloud Object Storage Memory Expansion for Slicestor S2212A
Delivers additional 96GB RAM.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 16, 2017 at 2:30 pmFeature AJ88 delivers an additional 96GB RAM for IBM Cloud Object Storage Slicestor S2212A (Model S10).
When using this feature, the system RAM increases to a total of 128 GB.
This additional memory enables Slicestor S2212A to support embedded accessers when used in conjunction with the concentrated dispersal mode function, delivering significant hardware savings for entry configurations.
Deploy entry-level Cloud Object Storage Systems
with the ability to scale to larger configurations
Companies can get started with the Object Storage System at a capacity of 72TB that is designed to require much less hardware infrastructure than previous IBM offerings.
IBM is introducing a concentrated dispersal mode capability that enables smaller footprint systems to easily scale up to larger configurations. This is an advantage for companies that are new to object storage, as they can now reduce their initial deployment commitment and retain the benefits of IBM Cloud Object Storage as they grow to petabyte scales and beyond. With the new concentrated dispersal mode capability, the company can create configurations that are designed to use fewer resources than previous minimal configurations and better align to customer requirements for private cloud storage.
Key prerequisites
IBM Cloud Object Storage System software V3.10.1, or later, is required, IBM Cloud Object Storage System software V3.12, or later, is recommended. These certified hardware servers can be deployed in a single site or across multiple, geographically dispersed locations, connected by public or private networks.
