Qnap TS-431XeU 1U 4-Bay Rackmount NAS With Shorter Chassis Depth
Hot-swappable 2.5”/3.5” 6Gb SATA HDD/SSD, one 10Gb SFP+, two Gb RJ45 and four USB 3.0 ports
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 3, 2017 at 2:32 pmQnap Systems, Inc. released the TS-431XeU NAS (available in two and 8GB RAM models) that offers a compact, short depth design with a 10GbE SFP+ port for high-speed connectivity.
The TS-431XeU features a standard 1U form factor, and is for space-constrained SMBs and homes that require fast, stable and secure storage.
The rackmount TS-431XeU has a shorter chassis depth of 11.46 inches (291 mm), allowing for saved space to be used for ventilation or cabling to facilitate flexible deployment. Combining performance hardware and software at a cost-effective price, the TS-431XeU is a storage solution for SMBs. With a noise level of 20.3dB, and power consumption of 12.42W (sleep) or 30.99W (active), it is quiet and eco-friendly, for lowering the TCO.
Thanks to the company close cooperation with Annapurna Labs, an Amazon company, the TS-431XeU will also be equipped with snapshot features. Normally only available for more-advanced NAS models, snapshots form part of a complete DR plan, and can help in minimizing the impact of ransomware attacks. (Snapshot support will be added to the TS-431XeU in the upcoming QTS 4.3.4.)

The quad-core TS-431XeU provides hardware-accelerated encryption, SSD caching, and a 10GbE SFP+ port to provide users with secure, high-performance storage. It is for file backup, DR, containerization and private cloud applications.
“The short depth design of QNAP TS-431XeU provides flexible deployment with a reduced footprint,” said Joan Hsieh, product manager QNAP. “The integrated 10GbE SFP+ port allows users to take full advantage of 10GbE networks to empower applications such as containers, streaming, and surveillance.“

The TS-431XeU supports Container Station, providing IoT developers with an advantage in developing and deploying their applications. Container Station integrates LXC and Docker lightweight virtualization technologies, and features the QIoT Containers platform that, coupled with the TS-431XeU’s potential storage capacity, provides an private IoT cloud platform with countless hands-on containerized apps for developers to initialize microservices.
The TS-431XeU is a storage solution for storage, backup, sharing and centralized management. It supports cross-platform file sharing over Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix, Windows and Mac desktop/laptop backup, RTRR (Real-Time Remote Replication) with backup versioning, rsync and backup to versatile cloud storage services. It can be used as a VPN server or VPN Client to secure network access. The Qsirch full-text search tool helps quickly find files on the NAS, and Qsync provides multiple ways for file synchronization and group file sharing to enhance collaboration of team projects. QmailAgent allows for centralizing multiple email accounts and simplifying daily email management; and Surveillance Station provides a professional IP-based surveillance solution.
The TS-431XeU’s storage capacity can be increased by connecting the firm’s expansion enclosures (the 12-bay UX-1200U-RP or 8-bay UX-800U-RP), providing a total storage capacity of up to 24 drives.
