IBM plans to add new cognitive services to its cloud-based storage management platform, Spectrum Control Storage Insights, and is offering an early user program.

This new capability will stream device data from IBM storage systems to the cloud so that the company can provide customers with insight into the performance, capacity, and health of their storage infrastructure.
Cognitive storage management capabilities that are based on this platform already include storage optimization with data tiering and storage reclamation of unused storage.
The firm plans to add further artificial intelligence that will reduce the time it takes to monitor complex infrastructures, and to find and resolve issues that impact application performance.
