Zwanenberg Food Group Opts for Commvault

For data management and compliance with Nutanix AHV hypervisor

Commvault Systems, Inc. announced that European producer and exporter of meat products, Zwanenberg Food Group, has implemented its Data Platform to provide backup and recovery to ensure improved speed of compliance with data management legislation and facilitate effective DR through email and file archiving functionality at the company HQs in Almelo in The Netherlands.

The other critical element was that Commvault provides broad coverage for hypervisors and containers, delivering full integration with Zwanenberg’s implemented Nutanix AHV hypervisor, running on the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform. This enabled a significant decrease to backup timescales and streamlined corporation-wide data monitoring and management.

Zwanenberg is an European producer and exporter of meat products. The family-run company has factories in the US, UK and the Netherlands. The seven production sites in the Netherlands have on-premises data centres, making sure the facilities run flawlessly and autonomously.

Zwanenberg refreshed its entire IT infrastructure, with inclusion of a Nutanix AHV-based environment. This environment eliminated the need for tapes for long-term archiving at the company’s HQs. This enabled all production sites to have automated snapshots delivered every two hours, stored locally and also sent to the HQs in Almelo for compliance, DR, backup and archiving purposes.

The Commvault Data Platform was the logical choice for Zwanenberg to provide full data management at its HQs in Twentepoort, Almelo as a data management solution that is compatible with Nutanix AHV.

We needed a trusted vendor to support our IT technology refresh with a solid and compatible solution,” said Eilko Bronsema, manager IT, Zwanenberg. “Commvault was chosen based on their ability to deliver an easy to maintain and solid solution, and their unique compatibility with Nutanix AHV.

Previously, our backup window cost us almost a day, but in the current setup with Commvault, everything is reliably wrapped-up by morning,” continued Bronsema. “As a result of the implementation of Commvault, our IT-department is spending far less time on controlling and handling, due to the easy management and the standardised platforms. This frees-up staff for higher value activities and for a relatively small IT department like ours, that extra time is very precious.

Zwanenberg, like many other organisations at the moment, underwent a full IT refresh to provide better business enablement and Commvault, and its partnerships with vendors like Nutanix, was a vital piece of this puzzle,” said Rob Van Lubek, area VP EMEA Northwest, Commvault. “It is also fantastic to see that the Commvault Data Platform has allowed the Zwanenberg IT team to take back control of their time, rather than waiting for lengthy backups, and focus on innovative IT projects that move their business forward.

Virtualization should be an integral part of the infrastructure stack, not a standalone product that needs to be bought, deployed and managed separately,” said Venugopal Pai, VP of strategic alliances and business development, Nutanix. “The Commvault and Nutanix partnership helped Zwanenberg achieve the best of multiple worlds by combining the savings and ease of management of the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform utilizing AHV with the holistic data protection and management of the Commvault Data Platform.
