Macrium Software, trademark of Paramount Software UK Ltd, announces the Reflect 7.1 with features that will boost its reliability and safety.

The new Macrium Image Guardian (MIG) feature will prevent unauthorised modifying of Reflect backup files on local and USB attached volumes. MIG provides assurance to every Reflect 7.1 user that their latest backups are recoverable, even after the worst-case scenario of a ransomware attack.

Macrium Image Guardian protection architecture

MIG is focused on the single task of protecting Reflect backup files, so has a small footprint and is very easy to administer.

MIG protects backup files on local NTFS volumes by blocking unauthorised write activity. It is network aware and allows other networked Reflect v7.1 clients to backup to shared MIG protected volumes.

Reflect 7.1 also includes an updated version of viBoot that provides instant virtualization of Macrium disk images to create a running VM in a fews. This update to viBoot allows future support for other hypervisors such as VMware.

Nick Sills, Macrium CEO, said: "We are excited to announce the release of Macrium Reflect 7.1 which brings significant enhancements to the speed and reliability of our flagship products. We have included new features that we know our customers will love, especially protection against one of the most serious threats to customer data, ransomware."

Reflect 7.1 will be made available as a free update for all customers with a current maintenance and support subscription. Otherwise it can be purchased as an upgrade from either version 5 or 6 of Reflect.
