The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Systems and methods for managing data with respect to tape storage are provided. The system includes a data manager for receiving metadata related to content and for generating a proxy file system which mirrors the data structure of the content data. The system further includes a server coupled to a tape device, the server receiving the content data directly from a data source and providing the content data the tape device for storage on a formatted tape media.“
