Fast and direct file sharing tool
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 29, 2017 at 2:19 pmpCloud AG announced the Public Folder – a new file sharing method, which allows users to easily share and display public content.
pCloud is a secure cloud storage app, where users can store, access and share their digital files, anywhere they go. Users always have up-to-date access, as the app synchronizes all changes across devices. The service is available for desktop (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) and mobile (Android and iOS) platforms, as well as from the web.
The Public Folder
Last month, pCloud announced the release of a new feature, describing it as a way to reshape how people display and share ideas with others. In the Public Folder, users can use their account as a file server for static content, without having to run a file server on the their home computer.
It was designed for content that is meant to be public and it makes it easier to do things like displaying stati one-off websites, embedding image files and sharing files directly with other people.
Displaying static HTML content
The Public Folder gives users the chance to display static HTML content by creating and pasting a Direct link to HTML-formatted text files and any linked graphics. That way, users can host and preview one-off static websites without any additional need for file servers.
Embedding Image files
Another useful perk is the ability to provide an embed code for image files. This makes it easier to show photos, display an email signature or add visual resources to code.
Creating Direct links
Every file inside the Public Folder has its own unique Direct link, which users can share with others, quickly and without side distractions.
Cloud storage users might already be familiar with the Public Folder – a feature, discontinued by Dropbox a while back. By bringing back the Public Folder to its users, pCloud provides a faster and more convenient data sharing experience. The tool is intended for those, who are searching for a reliable replacement for FTP and file servers.
Currently, users can enable the Public Folder from pCloud’s web app. The feature is fully-available for pCloud’s Premium community, but Free pCloud users can also try it out in a 7-day free trial.
pCloud has gained a global following of more than 7 million users. Today the service ranks among the top 5, competing with top services like Google, Dropbox and Amazon. The firm is a cloud storage provider to offer both encrypted and non-encrypted folders within the same account. Users can choose which files to encrypt and lock, and which ones to store and use in their original state.
