Datos IO Achieved AWS Partner Network Advanced Technology Partner Status

Reinforcing commitment to delivering cloud backup and recovery for cloud applications and databases

Datos IO, Inc., an application-centric cloud backup company, achieved Advanced tier Technology Partner status in the AWS Partner Network (APN).

Datos IO’s qualification for achieving Advanced tier Technology Partner status in the APN was achieved through product technical merits, validated customer engagement, and overall product enterprise readiness on AWS.

To fully embrace a cloud-first strategy, enterprises must have the assurance that their data is protected and always available and protected on public cloud platforms,” said Tarun Thakur co-founder and CEO, Datos IO. “We are thankful to our customers who have adopted Datos IO RecoverX as their cloud backup platform for their mission critical applications and databases in the cloud. We are most excited about achieving Advanced tier Technology Partner status in the APN because it enhances our ability to collaborate with AWS in helping customers accelerate their journey to the cloud knowing their data is protected and available anytime and anywhere.

The Why And The What of Cloud backup and Recovery
Gartner, Inc. included Datos IO for the second straight year on the 2017 Hype Cycle for Storage Technologies and 2017 Hype Cycle for Cloud Security in the cloud backup category. The fast growth and rapid movement of the cloud backup category across the Hype Cycle underscores the criticality of cloud backup and further validates Datos IO’s strategy of reinventing backup and recovery for the cloud.

Datos IO RecoverX is architected to address the backup and recovery needs
of cloud native applications, delivering industry capabilities including:

  • Application Consistent Backup and Restore: It provides full featured application consistent backup and orchestrated recovery for customer-centric applications built on non-relational databases and cloud databases.
  • Elasticity: It is based on elastic compute services, can be installed in minutes and scales up and down as application requirements dictate for RPO and RTOs.
  • Control Plane: It doesn’t rely on traditional media servers or purpose-built backup file systems and appliances. Instead, RecoverX is a control and orchestration data management platform that moves data via parallel streaming, always maintains backups in native formats, and enables customers to leverage backup copies for test/dev, staging and migration use-cases.
  • Cloud Backup Storage Efficiency: It leverages semantic deduplication, which provides highly space-efficient backups with up to 70% reduction in backup storage requirements.
  • Multi Data Store: It is based upon CODR, Datos IO’s seminal data management architecture, enabling RecoverX to support multiple enterprise data stores such as DataStax, Apache Cassandra, MongoDB and Apache Hadoop (Cloudera and Hortonworks) with extensibility to target additional data stores in the future.

Datos IO offers a unique application centric approach to backup and recovery,” said Dale Foster, president, Promark Technology, Inc.. “APN Advanced Technology Partner Status in the APN is an important achievement that demonstrates to customers Datos IO’s technical knowledge of AWS and their ongoing commitment to delivering cloud backup and recovery on AWS.

Datos IO has multiple enterprises protecting their business-critical applications using RecoverX on AWS while utilizing Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances for compute and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for backup storage.

Customers include Ayla Networks, Inc., an IoT platform provider, that automated their backup and recovery processes while reducing backup storage requirements by 67%, Barracuda Networks, Inc., in security and data protection solutions that reduced application downtime while reducing secondary storage costs, and Maxwell Health that reduced its recovery times to expedite its business goals of faster application development and deployment.

We use Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 for our SaaS solution,” said Ashley Penney, director of infrastructure, Maxwell Health. “We chose Datos IO because it’s a cloud scale, elastic compute software solution that runs natively on AWS, provides application consistent backup and recovery for MongoDB and maximizes our cloud backup storage efficiency.
