Port of New Orleans Deployed Druva

To streamline data protection and security for critical data

Druva, Inc. announced that the Port of New Orleans has deployed Druva to provide greater control over its mission-critical data.

Faced with antiquated infrastructure and the need to address growing data security and governance standards, the Port of New Orleans deployed Druva Phoenix and Druva inSync to provide an unified, cloud-based solution to meet data management needs and complex security standards.

As an US port for incoming and outgoing cargo, the Port of New Orleans is a deep-draft, multi-purpose port at the center of the world’s busiest port system – Louisiana’s Lower Mississippi River. It is connected via 14,500 miles of waterways, railroads, and interstate highways to transport goods of all types with a network of ocean carriers and barge and truck lines that is always growing. Additionally, the port is the sixth largest cruise port in the US hosting more than one million cruise passengers annually. The port needed to modernize its infrastructure and processes to handle a high volume of both legacy and incoming data.

The move to Druva gave us the opportunity to consolidate data that was previously dispersed throughout the enterprise and off site,” said David Cordell, CTO, Port of New Orleans. “Previously, it would take us too long to free certain files out of the server. Now with Druva’s cloud infrastructure, we have the ability to restore and backup data withins and continue to meet data requirements and business directives in a timely manner.

With insight into the cloud backup process, Druva ensures that mission critical server data is backed up quickly. Already, the customer has benefited from improved backup workflows and restore times have been reduced from weeks to seconds. The ease of use for both individual end users and for the port’s IT team has reduced time spent backing up and restoring critical data. Increased visibility into stored data assures that data is secure and meets government regulations.

The Port of New Orleans represents critical infrastructure for the United States,” said Andrew Nielsen, chief trust officer, Druva. “By selecting the Druva Cloud Platform, the port is on the cutting edge of data protection and cloud adoption. Storing critical information in the cloud with Druva, the port has streamlined their data protection infrastructure while increasing the security of their critical information.
