Nakivo Started Open Beta Program for Backup & Replication v7.2 Software

Nakivo Inc. started an open Beta Program for Backup & Replication v7.2.

The v7.2 Beta is available for download and has new features aimed to streamline and simplify VM backup and recovery. All Beta program participants completing the program requirements will receive an Amazon gift card.

Backup & Replication provides a variety of deployment options and can be installed on Windows, Linux, as well as directly on Qnap Systems, Inc., Synology, Inc., and Western Digital Corp. NAS servers, transforming these devices into VM Backup appliances. The beta version extends the range of supported NAS servers, by adding support for Asustor, Inc. NAS, which are characterized by performance, reliability, stability, and enhanced energy efficiency. Backup & Replication v7.2 Beta installed on Asustor NAS is a combination of backup software, hardware, and storage, as well as data deduplication in a single device.

Backup & Replication v7.2 Beta now allows truncating transaction log files in SQL Server 2008 and later. This feature helps to free up the VM storage space and protects the SQL Server from failures leading to data loss. The log truncation process is fully automated: It backups/replicates the entire VM, deletes log files on the source SQL Server, and keeps the compressed and deduplicated VM backup/replica with all transaction log files. This backup file/replica can be used to restore the database data, whenever necessary.

The v7.2. Beta also provides Instant Object Recovery for SQL Server. This feature was previously available for Exchange and Microsoft Active Directory and provides the ability to instantly restore selected SQL server objects, such as databases and tables, without restoring an entire VM. Objects can be restored back to the source VM, a different VM, or exported to a custom location. The Instant Object Recovery feature automates and streamlines the process of data restoration and saves time and efforts.

Scheduling new backup jobs in large environments while avoiding schedule overlaps may be a time-consuming and difficult task. Backup & Replication v7.2 Beta includes the Calendar Dashboard, which provides an easy way to schedule data protection jobs. Using the Calendar Dashboard requires no special skills. The dashboard displays all the past, current, and future backup jobs in a simple calendar view. Thus, finding free slots in the backup window is quite easy.
