NetApp Just Quietly Acquired Two Storage Companies

Immersive Partner Solutions and PlexiStor

During most recent conference call commenting on fiscal 4Q17 financial results, NetApp, Inc. revealed two acquisitions:

Immersive Partner Solutions
Headquartered in Littleton, CO, Immersive Partner Solutions, Inc., is a cloud-based converged infrastructure monitoring and compliance company. NetApp will integrate its IP into its FlexPod solutions to help customers simplify and automate life cycle management and enhance its converged infrastructure position. Founder, president and CEO Keith Barto is now director of product management, converged infrastructure group, at NetApp. Prior to Immersive Partner Solutions, he was at Cisco from 2006 to 2013 and senior consutant of Xiotech from 2003 to 2005.

PlexiStor
Based in Sunnyvale, CA, and founded in 2013, PlexiStor Ltd., with R&D in Herzilia, Israel, is backed by Battery Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners. It is a provider of software that turns off-the-shelf servers into high-performance converged infrastructure offerings with persistent memory technologies. This persistent memory-based storage solution delivers low latency and millions of IO/s using a commodity server.

Unified Storage Hierarchy by PlexiStor
The SDM architecture can use variety of storage and memory devices like volatile DRAM as well as non-volatile RAM such as NVDIMM-N and the recently announced Intel/Micron 3D XPoint new memory device. SDM also incorporates traditional storage media such as flash and capacity HDDs into a single unified persistent high capacity converged hierarchy.

CEO and founder Sharon Azulai was CEO and founder of Tonian, a software company developing the next generation in high performance NAS scale-out storage for virtualization prior to its acquisition by Primary Data in August of 2013. Prior to Tonian, he was a venture partner at Blumberg Capital.

CTO Dr. Amit Golander was previously VP of systems and product for Primary Data where he was responsible for strategic partnerships, alliances and beta customers as well as working with the R&D teams on the day-to-day product management. He also worked at IBM for over 12 years on data center and cloud infrastructure.
