Cohesity Customers Able to Use Microsoft Azure Cloud

To scale out secondary storage

Cohesity, Inc., in hyperconverged secondary storage, announced that customers can scale out secondary storage workloads from Cohesity on-premises deployments to Microsoft Azure.

This functionality makes it easy for businesses to take advantage of the scalability, convenience and cost-effectiveness of the Azure cloud platform for data protection, DR and test/dev workloads. The availability of Cohesity DataPlatform Cloud Edition (CE) in the Azure Marketplace demonstrates the complete portability of company’s distributed, scale-out platform.

Enterprises are increasingly using the benefits of cloud infrastructure for secondary storage use cases that traditionally ran on-premises. However, companies have struggled to transfer data between on-premises infrastructure and the cloud and to provide a transparent and continuous bridge across these infrastructures. Cohesity provides a hyperconverged, web-scale platform that spans ‘multi-cloud’ and on-premises infrastructures to support all secondary storage workloads, from backups to application test/dev to data analytics.

DataPlatform CE empowers users to replicate on-premises Cohesity deployments to cloud deployments that run natively in the customers’ Azure account and offers the following benefits:

  • Running Cohesity DataPlatform as a virtual appliance on Azure
  • Transferring data from on-premises Cohesity clusters to the Azure cloud platform
  • Using Azure cloud infrastructure for test/dev and DR workflows

The collaboration benefits Azure customers with easy access to an enterprise platform for secondary storage, extending the benefits of Azure compute and storage to new users and use cases. Cohesity and Microsoft worked in technical collaboration to deliver end-to-end scalability, security and performance for joint customers.

The availability of Cohesity software in the Microsoft Azure marketplace gives our customers an easy way to now provision and use flexible and cost-effective cloud services to complement their on-premises infrastructure,” said Patrick Rogers, head of marketing and product, Cohesity. “This is a concrete example of how we are actually delivering on our leadership vision for software-defined scale-out storage infrastructures that span from the edge to the center of the cloud. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Azure on this hybrid cloud initiative that has unprecedented demand amongst our enterprise customer base.
