Scality Headcount in Americas Region Reaching 55 for Field Organization

Hires include Rupa Multani, Michael Valen, David Koury and Curtis Smith.

Scality, Inc. announced an expansion of its field organization in response to growth in its Americas region.

Account executives, sales engineers, professional services and support were added to the field organization doubling the total number of customer-facing personnel in the region, bringing the total count to 55.

Success in the U.S. is the foundation of a growth company and Scality is delivering on that axiom.

The Americas region posted 139% topline growth in 2016, thanks to strategic account acquisitions.

Company success in the region has been bolstered by an alliance partner ecosystem, which includes Cisco, Dell, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, along with compelling year-to-date customer wins in the banking and finance, media and entertainment, industrial manufacturing, government, and service provider markets.

Scality has seen significant year-over-year growth across all regions, and in Americas it happened across all targeted industry segments,” said Erwan Menard, president and COO. “We have doubled our customer-facing Americas team across the board over the last 18 months to drive that revenue growth and assure optimum customer-focus across the region. We now count three main offices across the U.S., including San Francisco, Reston, and Boston, and have employees across the country to ensure full coverage.”

Scality deepened its functional bench with three industry veteran appointments, including Rupa Multani, Michael Valen, and David Koury who respectively lead Americas’ Sales Engineering, Professional Services, and Customer Support.

Rupa Multani brings her passion for customer advocacy to her new role as director of sales engineering for the Americas where she will deliver with her team pre-sales support to customers and partners. She began her career in professional services at Sun Microsystems. After Sun, she moved to sales engineering at Veritas Software and has held sales engineering roles at Symantec and EMC.

As senior director of professional services for the Americas, Michael Valen manages customer solutions engineers (CSEs) and technical account managers (TAMs) whose job it is to efficiently deliver projects to customers. Prior to Scality, he spent two years at Canonical as support director for the company’s solutions stack, including Ubuntu Linux and OpenStack. Beginning his career as a university intern at IBM, he spent seventeen years working his way up from system administrator, data center manager, solutions engineer, business area manager, and ultimately to global solutions manager.

David Koury joined to lead support activities in the region. He comes to Scality from HPE, which he originally joined through HPE’s IBRIX acquisition. At HPE he held key management roles across engineering and support in its storage division and managed comprehensive customer support activities prior to that at IBRIX.

Talent acquisition veteran, Curtis Smith, was hired to ensure the comany maintains its accelerated pace of hiring storage experts across all disciplines. He comes to Scality via Stolo and Yeeldr, both companies he founded at which he grew the headcount from 10 to 90 and from 100 to 300 employees, respectively, and Zocdoc where he was senior technical recruiter.

To support this growth into the future and to accommodate its new and growing R&D team, Scality is now based in the Bank of America building at 555 California Street, San Francisco, CA.

The larger corporate HQs will comprise a total of 80 employees.
