Buffalo TeraStation 5210DF 2-Bay NAS Populated With SSD and Built in 10GbE

Buffalo Technology EU BV announces the TeraStation 5210DF, a two-bay NAS populated with SSDs and built in 10GbE port.

The device is a solution for businesses looking for external storage with speed. By incorporating 10GbE with SSD, it can deliver speed data transfers exceeding 550MB/s, which helps speed up demanding tasks such as high-definition video editing or daily server backups.

SSDs provide higher shock and vibration resistance than HDDs, which makes the TS5210DF a NAS for use in vehicles or at construction sites.

The duplex system firmware ensures the TS5210DF is protected from boot failure. Having a duplex system means that firmware is located both on the SSDs used for storage and on the main board, so if either one fails the system still boots from the other and recovers the broken firmware.

Features such as the TRIM command, which enhances SSD lifetime, and the efficiency airflow chassis with dust filter, which prevents dust entering the device, mean that businesses are provided with a reliable device.

The launch coincides with the release of the company’s TeraStation NAS firmware update, which comes with a number of new features such as VMware, Inc.‘s integration and ability to backup to non-Buffalo devices. The firmware update will be available from 18 May, 2017.
