Code42 Partners With Okta, Provider of Identity for Enterprise

To secure cloud and protect employee data

Code42 Software, Inc., in cloud-based endpoint data protection and recovery, announced a partnership with Okta, Inc. to provide enterprise customers with added security and ease for their cloud adoption strategies.

As an independent provider of identity for the enterprise, Okta’s single sign-on authentication works alongside Code42’s data security and visibility tools to continue connecting and protecting employees at many of the world’s largest enterprises.

We are excited to announce this partnership with Okta. Our customers are deploying in the cloud at an increasing rate and to do that effectively they need the world’s leading cloud-based identity security technology,” said Joe Payne, CEO and president, Code42. “Through a strong technology integration with Okta, Code42 can provide a holistic and secure cloud experience that simplifies SaaS adoption for our current and future customers.

The Okta Identity Cloud enables simple and secure access from any device. As an enterprise identity management service built for the cloud, it is also compatible with many on-premises applications. IT can manage employees’ access to any application or device, allowing users to sign on across domains with a single online identity. By passing authentication details from the users’ organizational credentials to the service provider in a secure and private manner, Code42 customers can sign onto a secure cloud from different organizations and multiple points of entry.

The partnership also allows Code42 customers to sync Code42 users and groups with Active Directory for free via Okta Cloud Connect (OCC), solving a multitude of login and user administration issues, including password reset and profile synchronization challenges.

Okta helps customers fulfill their missions faster by making it safe and easy to use the technologies they need to do their most significant work,” said Chuck Fontana, VP of corporate and business development, Okta. “Code42 has a proven history of securing its customers by providing endpoint data protection. Now, Code42’s SAML-based identity integration with Okta will address a critical security gap every company faces: protecting data shared in the cloud.

As companies contemplate their options for a full cloud strategy, security coupled with fast deployments at scale are set to become core prerequisites.

According to Gartner, Inc.’s analyst Ruggero Contu: “Global demand for cloud-based security is growing through 2020. The ability to leverage security controls that are delivered, updated and managed through the cloud ‹ and therefore require less time-consuming and costly implementations and maintenance activities ‹ is of significant value to enterprises.

We’ve always been very intentional about identity, authentication, and authorization, which are the key elements of any security solution,” said John Durant, CTO, Code42. “This partnership helps organizations strike the balance between data security and user productivity. By running unobtrusively in the background, it allows users to quickly start doing actual work while giving administrators peace of mind. It represents Code42’s commitment providing solutions that scale easily in the cloud.
