Outpace.io Closed Doors

End of interesting story but AoE standard still alive

Following Coraid’s difficulties and the official shutdown in April 2015, its historical French partner Alyseo had decided to rehydrate the technology, leverage the installed based and continue the promotion of ATA over Ethernet (AoE).

They have recruited some people who have worked for Coraid and established a new company named Outpace.io at Winder, GA, just 30 miles from Athens, where Coraid was based, and they also have operations in France.

The company had a pretty good idea of its mission and tried to extend the product line with block, file and object storage products, various case studies, some successes and a growing ecosystem.

But a few weeks ago, it seems that some difficulties happened at Outpace.io as now the CEO of the company works for Red Hat and the domain outpace.io is dead, illustrating a confirmation we had from an other source that the company has stopped its activity.

A few months before that event, in August 2016, SouthSuite, founded in 2014 by Brantley Coile, the founder and original CTO of Coraid, acquired the IP for its original product line and the year before the company has obtained the Coraid domain and trademark. Coraid is now back as a software brand and the domain Coraid.com exists to continue the AoE market push.

We’ll have the opportunity to meet Brantley Coile, his team, and the new Coraid story, in June, to learn the new mission as the market has changed a lot since the first days of the first Coraid in 2000.

At the same time, we have also discovered a few weeks ago a new AoE story under the name Argo Tech, started as a Swiss company.
