Toshiba Memory Unit Sale Implications For HDD Business
The Toshiba board decided to put the entire Toshiba memory business up for sale at a shareholders meeting on March 30. The company hopes to raise at least $9 billion from the chip sales, which will cover its anticipated losses from the Westinghouse nuclear power unit, and thinks the unit has an $18 billion valuation.
It would seem likely that if the company sells its flash memory business, it will also want to sell it’s HDD business.
