HighPoint Technologies, Inc. is shipping 8-bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID-5 and 6 capable storage enclosure withThunderbolt 3 transfer speeds up to 2,700MB/s.

The RocketStor 6618T delivers RAID performance and storage capacity up to 80TB for a $999 unit price, and is available from North American retail and distribution channels.

The RocketStor 6618T can be bundled with off-the-shelf NAS HDDs, and delivers up to $1,800 in savings over six and eight-bay Thunderbolt 3 products offered by other RAID storage brands. Backed by company’s RAID stack and manufacturing expertise, it ensures customers can reap the benefits of high-capacity RAID storage without sacrificing performance or reliability.

Designed for professional media applications
The RocketStor 6618T RAID enclosure is designed for professional media applications that demand high-speed transfer rates and massive storage capacity; it provides the flexibility to support ultra-high-resolution 4K and 6K footage for media production or editing projects, and mass-storage configurations for compiling media libraries and archiving critical assets. For raw power, customers can configure RAID-0 arrays comprised solely of SSD’s to attain up to 2,700MB of transfer performance. RAID-5 and 6 deliver the combination of speed and security; ‘stripe’ RAID capability with protection for up to one and two disks respectively.

Flexibility
The RocketStor 6618T is designed to support a range of storage configurations and professional applications; SSDs for performance, HDDs for mass storage, or a combination of both configurations using a single enclosure. The integrated daisy-chain capability allows customers to link up to six individual RocketStor 6618T enclosures and add a mind boggling 480TB to a single computer.

The RocketStor 6618T open approach to storage grants customers the freedom to select from the enterprise/NAS class SATA disks from all major drive brands including from HGST, Seagate, Toshiba and WDC. The eight removable hot-swap bays were designed to accommodate any industry standard 2.5″ or 3.5″ SATA HDD or SSD, and a 80TB of storage capacity. Firm’s in-house engineers work closely with storage vendors to ensure compatibility with the latest HDDs as they are released to market, including future models that exceed 10TB in size.

Safeguards storage investments
The RocketStor 6618T integrates LED monitoring, audible alarms, and intelligent cooling apparatus to ensure storage investments stay healthy and accessible. The robust, aluminum enclosure design naturally dissipates heat away from storage devices. Intelligent fan control automatically adjusts fans speeds to maintain consistent ambient temperatures while keeping unwanted noise to a minimum. The integrated RAID controller features an adjustable alarm system that can be configured to notify administrators in case of overheating or device failure. The enclosure front panel features easy to read LED’s that allow users to check the availability of disks and activity level of RAID configurations with a simple glance.
