The healthcare backup-as-a-service (BaaS) offering – part of the OpSus healthcare cloud services portfolio – enables healthcare organizations to quickly, easily and securely use the cloud to protect and recover mission-critical application data.

By building the OpSus Backup service on the company’s comprehensive data management platform, CloudWave is able to deliver healthcare enterprises a fully-managed backup service that cuts costs while minimizing security, BC and regulatory compliance risks.

This announcement was made at HIMSS 2017, being held February 19 -23, in Orlando, FL.

OpSus Backup supports healthcare enterprises’ efforts to implement holistic data management strategies that allow them to protect, control and derive more value from all their data. It uses the company’s holistic data management platform to backup data on tier 4 data centers, and encrypt data both in transit and at rest. Both healthcare enterprise IT staff and CloudWave’s team of healthcare IT experts can use the service to initiate, monitor and maintain backup operations, as well as perform on-demand data restoration on secure landing zones.

Today many healthcare IT staff are struggling to find the time needed to ensure that their mission-critical data is backed up in full compliance with regulatory requirements,” said Matthew Donahue, CTO, CloudWave. “OpSus Backup helps relieve this burden, providing healthcare enterprises with a fully-managed backup service that reduces time spent on backup administration while also helping them lower risk with powerful security, availability and regulatory capabilities. In selecting a software partner for OpSus Backup, we carefully evaluated potential providers using a disciplined matrix which spanned functionality, compatibility, efficiency, and operations. Commvault met or exceeded our criteria in every category.

The nOpSus Backup service, powered by Commvault, builds on the companies’ existing strong partnership. A provider of IT and hybrid cloud solutions for healthcare, CloudWave collaborated with the company last year to test and validate the Data Platform for backup and recovery with Meditech Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, enabling healthcare enterprises to leverage a single data management platform across their entire enterprise.

With data volumes growing, regulatory requirements expanding, cyberattacks increasing and IT budgets shrinking, healthcare organizations need to implement holistic data management strategies that allow them to cost-effectively use the cloud to backup and recover data while maintaining high levels of security, regulatory compliance and availability,” said Ananth Balasubramanian, GM, healthcare solutions group, Commvault. “By partnering with Commvault, CloudWave is able to provide healthcare enterprises with the power to implement these strategies, through a fully managed backup service that allows IT staff to focus on more strategic initiatives, while also helping lower operational expenses and reduce security, BC and regulatory compliance risk. We are excited to extend our partnership with an industry leader in bringing on-premises and cloud-based technology solutions to the healthcare market and look forward to a longstanding relationship for the benefit of our customers.
