Freecom mSSD MAXX: Compact SSD for Mac and PC
512GB, Type-C and USB 3.1 gen 2 interfaces

The introduction of this SSD completes the line-up for the wider company’s family of HDD and SSD products which all boast an aluminum enclosure with a sleek brushed metal textured appearance.
Available in 512GB, the mSSD MAXX delivers data transfer speeds of up to 700MB/s, making it one of the fastest portable SSDs available.
The storage device weighs 72g and measures 9x57x10mm (LxWxH) to strike a balance between pocket-friendly portability and accelerated performance that allows users to reduce data read and write waiting times.
To enable Mac and PC owners, the mSSD MAXX is available with two cables for convenient and sfast data transfer: an USB 3.1 Type-A to Type-C cable and an USB 3.1 Type-C to Type-C cable
The drive is FAT32 formatted which allows it to be used interchangeably between Windows and Mac computers without reformatting. For content with files sizes larger than 4GB, software is supplied on the drive to reformat to HFS+ for Mac and NTFS for PCs.
The drive comes pre-installed with Nero Backup software for system backup and restore functionality which allows users to schedule automatic backups by date and time, compress files to save space, or encrypted backup with password protection.
The Freecom mSSD MAXX 512GB has a MRSP of around £269. It comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty and unlimited helpdesk support.
Freecom’s metal range
The mHDD MAXX is the latest and fastest within the Freecom metal portfolio of external HDD and SSD products. Others in the range include the mHDD Slim – a compact and stylish portable HDDn weighing 150g and only 0.9cm thick, available in 1TB and 2TB capacities and various colours, and with USB Type-C and USB 3.0 cables as standard for connectivity. There is also the mHDD Desktop HDD, available in 2TB, 4TB and 8TB capacities, which provides a large volume storage option for desk workers. The mSSD completes the group – the smallest and lightest of the lot, weighing 29g and only 80x35x9mm in size. All are enclosed in the distinctive firm’s metal enclosure, providing both strength and style.
Note: The data signalling rate of USB 3.1 Gen 2 is 10Gb/s, double of that of USB 3.0. Type-C is a universal connector that’s also capable of twice the theoretical throughput of USB 3.0.
