Cloud FastPath is enabling News Corp’s IT teams to automate the migration of more than 150TB of files and content for more than 23,000 employees across eight businesses, and distributed worldwide across six datacenters, into Dropbox. Tervela joined the Dropbox Premier Partner Program to accelerate the migration of files, while reducing the cost and complexity associated with moving content into the cloud-based collaboration platform.

News Corp chose Cloud FastPath because of its simplified deployment, ease of use, transfer speed and security and automation capabilities. Having an effective migration solution in place means that the company is able to accelerate its Dropbox adoption for all employees and build on the productivity and efficiency gains achieved through its initial project-based rollout.

The decision to put more of our business content and files in the cloud was reasonably straightforward because the advantages were clear. Yet the execution was challenging because we need to move data for thousands of employees in several business units globally, while ensuring that the migration is seamless and secure,” said Dominic Shine, Global CIO, News Corp. “After we evaluated several options, we chose Cloud FastPath to allow us to migrate our data to Dropbox as quickly and easily as possible.

The media and information services company deployed Cloud FastPath remotely and is executing the migrations through the web application. The solution’s transfer performance will allow News Corp to migrate hundreds of users per day into Dropbox. Using Cloud FastPath’s file analytics and account and permission mapping functionality, the IT team built predictable migration plans. With tens of millions of files, the IT team will achieve visibility and an audit trail into the migration process.

News Corp’s shift to minimal on-premises storage infrastructure in favor of Dropbox highlights an important opportunity for all enterprises,” said Eric Schnadig, CEO, Tervela. “More businesses are realizing that if they don’t leverage the flexibility, scalability and IT management freedom that the cloud has to offer, they’ll be left behind. News Corp is at the forefront of this visionary trend and we’re thrilled to be working with them as a Dropbox partner to help accelerate their cloud adoption and deliver value to their employees and business.

Organizations typically have distributed file servers for their content, requiring dedicated IT support to ensure up-time and availability. In addition, a growing mobile workforce is increasingly frustrated with having to use on-premises file platforms that are challenging to access and expensive to manage. This is compelling many organizations to consolidate their storage infrastructures onto a single platform, which can create several migration challenges.

Cloud FastPath provides a solution for simplifying, securing and speeding large scale migrations for organizations that are moving vast amounts of content from disparate locations into Dropbox. With pre-migration analysis, optimized data transfer technology and post-migration reporting, Cloud FastPath enables organizations to streamline the adoption of cloud platforms and unlock their benefits.
