Storage Heaven: TapeMaster LTO Duplication Solution

StorageHeaven, division of MultiMedia Effects, Inc., announced the addition of the TapeMaster, a line of data tape replication solutions.

This TapeMaster provides fast duplication speeds approaching 600MB/s compressed. When you compare native data rates, that’s 300MB/s, which is faster than typical 7,200rpm HDD (130MB/s).

“This is an awesome achievement since you can duplicate many LTO tapes in a few hours instead of typically taking days using off-the-shelf software which oftentimes does not make successful copies at all,” mentions Gordon.

This TapeMaster platform also supports all generations of Linear Tape Open (LTO) Ultrium technology from the original LTO to the latest LTO-7 and is future-proof for next generation LTO as well. Duplication modes include bit-for-bit copy and copy-and-verify mode that automatically performs a bit-for-bit verification immediately after copy process is completed.

To operate the TapeMaster no computer is required. It’s a complete standalone unit with easy to read LCD display and four-button control panel. These units are appropriate for top-secret government applications since they do not have a built-in HDD and do not retain any tape data in the device during or after copy process.

The TapeMaster comes standard with a built-in diagnostic feature that allows the user to check the overall health of the system at any time. Along with the performance speeds of 600MB/s and the ability to duplicate manually from one-to-one or one-to-many targets simultaneously, this solution also comes in a ‘lights-out’ automated configuration for users that require 24/7 high volume production.

The TapeMaster is for LTO duplication applications such as software upgrades, content distribution, off-site storage, archiving, digital forensics and data tape migration.
