Xeon E3-1245 v5 Skylake architecture, 3.5GHz processor with 16GB of DDR4 ECC RAM (upgradable to 64GB) and Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard OS
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 13, 2017 at 3:23 pmThecus Technology Corp. announced their series of enterprise Windows based NAS, the W12910SAS and W16910SAS.
These 12-bay and 16-bay rackmount NAS with server-grade hardware design, in conjunction with the Windows OS platform offer large-scale IT divisions and growing data medium business with a scalable storage solution for data heavy businesses.
“Thecus’ latest Windows enterprise rackmounts, the W12910SAS and W16910SAS, provide big business ultra-fast performance, high-scalability and reliability. The Windows OS architecture is world renowned for aiding business success in big business” said Florence Shih, GM, Thecus.
W16910SAS
The rackmounts are powered by Xeon E3-1245 v5 Skylake architecture 3.5GHz processor with 16GB of DDR4 ECC RAM (upgradable to 64GB).
These NAS offer the same user experience as other company’s NAS that use the Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard OS, providing businesses with an easy learning curve and quick deployment of the system.
W12910SAS
Skylake
The W12910SAS and W16910SAS are equipped with the Xeon E3-1245 v5 Skylake architecture 3.5GHz processor. This processor is a quad-core with Hyper Threading. The E3-1245v5 has a 3.5GHz base frequency with 3.9GHz turbo frequency, capable of fast and persistent throughput speeds to handle commercial mission-critical applications.
DDR4
These NAS are equipped with 16GB (expandable to 64GB) DDR4 ECC RAM. DDR4 memory delivers a 14%+ performance improvement over DDR3 memory with migration to higher speed, more robust control features while improving energy economy with reduction in memory power demand.
Scalability
These models are 10GbE ready, support for the 10TB HDD and SSD models. The deployment of Daisy Chaining technology which offers connections of up to four additional D16000s, allowing users to reach storage capacities of up to 800TB.
With architecture that supports internal HDDs with 6Gb SATA and 12Gb SAS interfaces which feature transfers speeds of up to 12Gb/s, giving storage choices for enterprises.
Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard
Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard comes pre-installed on a 60GB SSD for fast boot and response times. This OS provides a foundation on which to develop, deliver, and manage rich user experiences and applications.
Besides integration within a Microsoft Corp.‘ infrastructure and finer optimization for Windows transfer protocols, Microsoft updates its product to maintain the security level of its appliances. When support is needed, the whole Windows ecosystem and community are available for help.
Data Deduplication
Data Deduplication controls data growth by removing duplicate data, allowing the server to efficiently store, transfer and backup less data.
Zero downtime with failover clustering
Failover clusters provide HA and scalability to many server workloads. These include server applications such as Exchange Server, Hyper-V, SQL Server, and file servers. The server applications can run on physical servers or VMs.
Industry 4.0 manufacturing process
With Ennoconn Corp.‘s acquisition of Thecus in May 2016, the company leverages Foxconn’s production facilities. Foxconn is in contract manufacturing services (including CEM, EMS, ODM and CMMS). By taking advantage of their facilities and production lines that operate with smart manufacturing technology (Industry 4.0), the implementation of the connected Industry and Industry 4.0, NAS devices now deliver quality standards with complete control of manufacturing process, from initial product development stage to the final product.
Units will be available in January 2017
