eApps Hosting Deployed SSD-Based Distributed Storage System

By StorPool

eApps Hosting (Strategic Systems Consulting, Inc.) reported that the first virtual cloud zone, in the company’s Atlanta, GA data center location, has been converted to StorPool’s Distributed Storage system.

All customers in the Atlanta zone have been migrated to the new storage system. Deployment of the Distributed Storage system in all eApps cloud zones is underway, with an expected completion date by the end of the first quarter of 2017. The system is being rolled out for all virtual cloud customers, with no increase in storage pricing.

StorPool’s Distributed Storage system was selected in a multiple vendor evaluation based on performance, reliability, scalability, and vendor responsiveness. The system is deployed on eApps’ high speed network and uses SSDs for maximum performance. eApps customers that are on the new storage system are benefiting from improved disk performance and higher levels of I/O throughput at no additional cost for their hosting plan.

With StorPool, additional storage capacity can be added: allowing eApps to offer large disks for a virtual cloud server. 1TB disks are available, with larger disk options planned in the near future.

The eApps virtual cloud service runs on fault tolerant infrastructure and uses the OnApp cloud management system. Customers use the eApps Create-A-Cloud tool to select RAM, CPU, disk, and an OS template for their custom virtual cloud server, which is then provisioned in minutes. A list of Linux and Windows templates, many bundled with popular application services including Apache Tomcat, Wildfly, GlassFish, Liferay Portal, and database servers, are available.

The service offers free support, including ‘on-ramp’ assistance for those customers that need help deploying their site. Customers have a free option for ISPsystem’s ISPmanager Lite control panel and a customer portal. The virtual cloud service is backed by eApps Hosting’s in-house 24/7 support by phone, chat, email, and Skype.
