21.4 Billion Files Under Nasuni’s Management, 64 Million Added Each Week

In October, IT leaders from some large and data-intensive organizations convened in Boston, MA for Nasuni Corp.‘s Fifth Annual Summit. 

The summit brings customers and partners together with the company’s engineers, executives and employees to discuss best practices, share ideas and plan for the continued advancement of solutions that change how enterprises address their file-related challenges, including storage, backup, DR, collaboration and mobility.

Provider of Enterprise File Services to distributed organizations, Nasuni created a cloud-native filesystem, UniFS, and uses the public, private or hybrid cloud in much the same way that traditional storage vendors use commodity disk drives in their boxes. Enterprises benefit from the almost limitless capacity and inherent resiliency of the cloud, and all file-related operations occur on a system that features military-grade encryption and centralizes control – including provisioning, permissions and encryption keys – solely under corporate IT.

This year’s summit included presentations and panel conversations with numerous luminaries in the disciplines of storage, backup, DR and sync-and-share. Notably, two distinguished executives for both IBM and Microsoft’s cloud operations spoke at the event.

Russ Kennedy, SVP at IBM, and former SVP of product strategy and customer solutions at Cleversafe – which was acquired by IBM last fall – discussed the drivers behind IBM’s new IBM Cloud Object Storage unveiled on the day of the summit. Vamshidhar Kommineni, principal PM manager for Azure, Microsoft, also discussed Microsoft’s cloud-related investments and developments.

In addition, analyst Curtis Preston, ‘Mr. Backup,’ presented a thoughtful and entertaining session on the future of strategies to safeguard and replicate file data. 

Finally, Nasuni’s engineering team presented proposed enhancements to the company’s product development roadmap while seeking customers’ feedback both at the summit and in the weeks and months to come – all while updating customers on the growth and expansion of UniFS. 

Updates included:
    •    More than 300 global enterprises now deploy Nasuni’s Enterprise File Services in 59 countries;
    •    More than 2.1 billion global file-locking events have now occurred;
    •    More than 12PB of client data are currently stored; and
    •    More than 21.4 billion files are under Nasuni’s management, with some 64 million more added each week.
