Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS Cables for IBM LTO Tape Autoloader and Libraries

This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 20, 2016 at 2:33 pmIBM Systems now offers new mini-SAS HD to mini-SAS cables to support attachment of IBM TS2900 tape autoloaders and IBM TS3100 and TS3200 tape Ultrium libraries to a host with mini-SAS HD capabilities.
IBM TS2900 Tape Autoloader is a slim profile, 1U system for rack environments. IBM TS3100 and TS3200 tape libraries are external, stand-alone units designed to offer high capacity, performance, and reliability for storage and retrieval in mid-range systems environments.
The following new IBM System Storage hardware features are available on IBM System Storage TS2900 (machine type 3572 models S5H, S6H, and S7H), and TS3100 and TS3200 (machine type 3573 models L2U and L4U):
- Feature number 5507 – 4m Mini-SAS HD/Mini-SAS 1X Cable: Enables attachment of a single tape drive to a host with HD applications (from HD HBA with SFF-8644 to drive with SFF-8088 connector).
- Feature number 5509 – 3m Mini-SAS HD/Mini-SAS 2X Cable: Enables attachment of one or two tape drives to a host with HD applications, from HD HBA with SFF-8644 to drives with SFF-8088 connectors. This cable fans out to enable connection of two devices to one HBA port.
Key prerequisites
Appropriate levels of host software are required to attach and support TS2900, TS3100, or TS3200 with IBM LTO Ultrium 7 tape drives to select IBM Power Systems, IBM System z, Linux, and Windows servers.
