IBM Power Systems With Improved HA, DR, Backup

IBM Power Systems offers new and improved HA, DR,
and backup and recovery solutions

These new solutions extend capabilities of existing product offerings:

• IBM PowerHA SystemMirror V7.2 is a HA and DR solution for both IBM AIX and IBM i. Enhancements in the version 7.2.1 release include a new user interface and dashboard. See Software announcement for details.
• IBM PowerVC V1.3.2 remote restart is the Power Systems data center VM restart solution. PowerVC V1.3.2 enables the monitoring of a VM through a Hardware Management Console (HMC) and the automatic restart of that VM should it fail or if the operator chooses to move it using restart instead of a logical partition (LPAR) operation. • IBM Geographically Dispersed Resiliency (GDR) is a new service offering that provides a simplified DR solution for Power Systems. GDR enables AIX and Linux LPARs to be restarted quickly in the client’s own DR site or an IBM -hosted site through this DR as a service offering. See software announcement for details.
• IBM Cloud Storage Connector for i is a new Licensed Program Product that is based on an API that gives IBM i clients a portal for connecting to public clouds in order to send and receive data. The initially supported public cloud is IBM SoftLayer along with backup recovery MSPs that support the API infrastructure. See software announcement for details.
• IBM Backup, Recovery, and Media Services for i (BRMS) is enhanced to take advantage of Cloud Storage Connector for i by utilizing cloud storage to move the data off site without the need for a local tape drive. This is the automated option as part of conducting normal backup and recovery operations. Command line and custom scripts are also available for these operations.
