Scenario 1: On-site instant recovery and BC scenario
ActiveImage Protector backup and bare-metal DR software is installed on one or several Windows servers and configured to generate automated sector-based backups stored in a NAS. Install vStandby AIP on another machine of the network to create standby VMs on VMware ESXi or Hyper-V virtual environment. vStandby AIP automatically converts backup files to VMDK or VHD/VHDX snapshot files. When a disaster strikes, boot the virtual disk at the chosen recovery point and immediately boot the failed server as a VM. Downtime is minimal.

Scenario 2: Offsite instant recovery and BC scenario
ActiveImage Protector is installed as per Scenario 1 creating automated scheduled incremental backup files. Use free ImageCenter LE add-on module to replicate backup images to an offsite or private cloud location and install vStandby AIP on a machine at this remote location.
vStandby AIP creates VMDK or VHD/VHDX virtual disks at the offsite/Cloud location and automatically updates them with scheduled incremental boot point snapshots.
In case of local server failure or disaster, boot the remote standby VM in an instant and set the users to use this remote virtual server to continue their daily activity, reducing downtime.
