Expansion Enclosure for IBM FlashSystem

New IBM FlashSystem expansion enclosure delivers a tiered storage solution for V9000.

IBM FlashSystem V9000 brings high capacity and integrated management to the enterprise data center.

The new 12Gb SAS expansion enclosure expands total capacity and delivers a tiered data solution. Each LFF expansion enclosure supports 12 3.5-inch 8TB NL-SAS drives. Up to two expansion enclosures are supported by a FlashSystem V9000 controller pair, delivering up to 24 drives and 192TB of raw capacity.

A FlashSystem V9000 tiered system is capable of providing up to 217TB usable per building block, with up to 57TB usable flash capacity and 160TB usable disk. The V9000 scales up to four building blocks and four additional 57TB flash enclosures for up to 1,096TB of usable storage. In addition to direct-attached SAS expansions, the V9000 is capable of virtualizing up to 32PB of external storage.

FlashSystem V9000 LFF Expansion Enclosure Model 12F includes:

• Two expansion canisters
• 12Gb SAS ports for control enclosure and expansion enclosure attachment
• Twelve slots for 3.5-inch SAS drives
• 2U, 19-inch rack mount enclosure with two AC power supplies (110 to 240V)
• Model 9846-12F includes one-year warranty with on-site service, 24 hours a day, every day of the week
• Model 9848-12F includes three-year warranty with on-site service, 24 hours a day, every day of the week

Key prerequisites
FlashSystem V9000 LFF Expansion Enclosure Model 12F requires FlashSystem V9000 Software V7.7, or later, for operation. Use of the software is entitled through the acquisition of FlashSystem V9000 software licenses.
