Toshiba: 8TB 3.5-Inch HDD Based on PMR and TMR

Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG) Storage Peripherals Division will add an 8TB model to its X300 family of storage 3.5-inch HDDs.

It will address the performance and demanding storage requirements of power application users, graphic designers and gamers looking to upgrade the capacity, speed and reliability of their internal workstation storage. 
 
For desktop workstations, all-in-one PCs, gaming computers and home media computers, the drive offers a 6Gb SATA interface and incorporates features that enhance both real-time performance and data protection. From backing up and restoring large files to saving a game during play, or from photo and video editing to working with multiple applications simultaneously, the drive ensures that data is stored rapidly and securely and can be accessed quickly when needed.
 
The X300 operates with a high rotational speed of 7,200rpm, features a 128MB buffer and incorporates a dual-stage actuator design that improves positional accuracy and decreases head-track alignment effects caused by vibration. The drive offers Advanced Format (AF) storage and supports Native Command Queuing.
 
The drive uses Perpendicular Magnetic Recording and Tunnel Magneto-Resistive recording technology deliver high-density, high-speed and stability. Data security is supported through an internal shock sensor that enhances resistance to shock and vibration and ramp loading technology that protects data while the drive is on the move.
 
The X300 – 8TB will be available from June 2016 and typical purchase price will be £262 or €358.

A two-year warranty is provided as standard.
