Akitio Provides Thunderbolt 2/3 Storage With SanDisk 1TB SSDs

Akitio announced that several models of their Thunderbolt2 and Thunderbolt3 enclosures can be purchased with SanDisk Corporation‘ SSDs pre-installed.

The company SKU’s will feature two 1TB SanDisk X400 SSDs at a price point compatible with building your own system. The X400 SSD enables fast start-up and application launch, as well as extended battery life. The Thunderbolt2 and Thunderbolt3 with X400 SSDs are a complete solution ready to plug and play. The Thunderbolt2 products will be pre-formatted for Macs and the current version of the Thunderbolt3 SKU’s will come formatted for Windows PC’s. The firm offers an extended warranty available by registering the products on their website. This extends the normal company two-year warranty and makes it a three-year warranty.

The Duo Pro is an all-aluminum two-bay RAID enclosure that supports four RAID modes (RAID-0 striping, RAID-1 mirroring, SPAN, and non-RAID). The Thunder3 Duo Pro features two Thunderbolt 3 Ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-B) port, and a DisplayPort video output to connect the latest 4K 60HZ displays. The second Thunderbolt 3 port on the Thunder3 Duo Pro operates the same as a Thunderbolt 3 computer port by supporting Thunderbolt 3 (up to five daisy chained), USB 3.1 (10Gb/s), and DisplayPort devices.

The Duo Pro is completely ‘tool-less’, so drives can be installed or swapped out. It can run fanless (zero decibels) when needed making it the perfect choice for home and professional audio recording when SanDisk SSDs are installed.

The Thunder3 Duo Pro gives Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere users the ability to edit and playback multiple streams of HD and/or 4K content with enough headroom to daisy chain multiple 4K displays simultaneously.

The Thunder 2 Duo Pro with two 1TB X400 SSDs will be available for $949 through Amazon and other Akitio resellers and the Thunder 3 Duo Pro with two 1TB SanDisk SSD’s will be $969.
