Top Ten Storage Subsystems According to SPC Benchmark
Leaders: Huawei OceanStor 18800 V3 for IO/s, DataCore SANsymphony-V for price/performance
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 29, 2016 at 3:00 pmSPC Benchmark 1 (SPC-1) by the Storage Performance Council consists of a single workload designed to demonstrate the performance of a storage subsystem while performing the typical functions of business critical applications. Those applications are characterized by predominately random I/O operations and require both queries as well as update operations. Examples of those types of applications include OLTP, database operations, and mail server implementations.

Comments
Huawei and Datacore are the big winners in SPC Benchmark 1.
The Chinese company proves its excellent technology being the number one ranking in IO/s with 50% more with its OceanStor 18800 V3 than the second one, Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000. But Huawei has to invest more in marketing to be a strong force outside China and especially in the "storage country", USA, where it is about totally absent.
Datacore, on its side, is number three in IO/s and a comfortable leader in $/SPC-1 IO/s with Parallel Server and SANsymphony-V 10.0. It is the only company in software only in these rankings with the use of Lenovo and Dell hardware for testing.
But note the Storage Performance Council does not test all storage subsystems as vendors have to pay for that. Biggest companies like EMC, NetApp, HDS, HPE, Dell or wealthy Huawei invest in the program but smaller ones like Infortrend, Kaminario or X-IO are an exception.
