Backup and Recovery as a Service Offering by Forsythe

Powered by Commvault and HDS

Forsythe Hosting Solutions, Inc., Commvault Systems, Inc. and Hitachi Data Systems Corpration (HDS) have teamed up to provide a enterprise, hybrid cloud-capable backup and recovery as a service (BaaS) solution for enterprises looking to offload day-to-day backup and recovery responsibilities from in-house staff.

The solution addresses today’s enterprise data protection needs by combining Commvault’s next-generation software and data platform, HDS’ software-defined infrastructure solutions, and Forsythe’s hosting and managed services. Company’s BaaS offering enables clients to achieve reliable and secure backup and recovery without any of the complexity and costs of buying the technology or managing the associated systems and processes. Because information availability and security are increasingly critical to meet strategic business objectives, customers require faster and more cost-effective solutions to protect and manage their data.

Benefits include:

  • Transparent and predictable costs for backup operations

  • Proactive problem management and escalation

  • Significantly improved backup and recovery performance

  • Improved audit and regulatory compliance

  • 256-bit end-to-end encryption to fully protect and isolate client data

  • Quick access to self-service web portal for easy and quick support interaction

Additional technical benefits include open architecture, ease of hardware integration and the ability to support hybrid (combined private and public) cloud architectures. Additional services benefits include backup planning (including from tape to disk), backup scheduling that fully, yet cost-effectively, protects critical data, data migration services, and fully-managed data recovery should the need arise.

The offering is available with or without replication to a second site, depending on each client’s needs. It is also available to clients housed at Forsythe Data Centers (FDC), with several redundancy options.

Our clients seek the peace of mind that comes from keeping their data secure as well as streamlining their day-to-day operational IT investment so they can focus on driving growth, innovation and competitive advantage in a digital business world,” said Michael Conley, EVP, Forsythe. “When companies experience an outage or other data-impacting event, the speed and resource demands to quickly restore systems are huge. Most cloud backup solutions don’t take this responsibility off the client’s shoulders. Ours does. We are very pleased to be partnering with Commvault and HDS to offer clients a secure, simplified and standardized backup and data recovery solution that requires no client management.

The company has been partners with HDSs and Commvault since 2005 and 2008, respectively. In March 2015, the firm became a HDS Cloud Service Provider partner. The firm is a Commvault Platinum Partner and was recognized as Commvault’s 2013 Professional Services Partner of the Year.

We are pleased to extend Commvault’s presence to the vital enterprise market with this new BaaS offering that leverages award-winning backup technologies to provide modern, enterprise data management with hybrid cloud capabilities,” said Scott Little, VP, sales, North America, Commvault.

Chris White, VP, sales, Americas partners and alliances, HDS, said: “Today, as demand for 24/7 data availability from anywhere grows exponentially and as data insights continue to offer a means for organizations to innovate faster and gain competitive advantages, the cloud has changed the way we look at agility and business transformation. We are committed to developing best-fit, Hitachi-powered alternatives, like the Forsythe BaaS solution, that can help customers take advantage of the cloud, transform their business and achieve their desired business outcomes.
