Phoenix International Introducing 50TB Data at Rest Encryption RAID

Phoenix International Systems, Inc. introduced Self Encrypting Drive (SED) technology support for its RPC24 4004 Series drive magazine based, rugged storage solution.

The RPC24 4004 series supports TCG compliant and FIPS 140-2 certified AES 256 encryption as well as instant secure erase when configured with solid state disks and HDD drives with these capabilities.

Data security is a key component to any mass storage application and has been brought to the general public’s awareness with the recent data breaches at major corporations, retail establishments and government agencies to see the financial and security fallout from these attacks. However, for deployed military applications, data security has always been a concern and thanks to Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) options, data-at-rest security has become more efficient and affordable.

The RPC 4004 Series is available in a variety of configurations for 2.5 inch SSDs and HDDs. Each RPC24 converged interface storage array includes two four-port controllers and can be configured in the field with eight 16Gb FC ports, eight 10Gb iSCSI ports, or a combination of four 16Gb FC and four 10Gb iSCSI ports. IT managers often use FC for the storage network within the data center, and iSCSI for replication and other data management services outside of the data center. These storage arrays are backward-compatible with 8Gb/4Gb FC and 1Gb iSCSI networking solutions such as switches and HBAs. The RPC24 4004 12Gb SAS models are backward-compatible with 6Gb SAS investments. All 4004 models are meta-data compatible with previous generation RPC24 arrays, so that customers can accomplish data-in-place migration by simply upgrading to 4004 generation controllers.

Featuring a storage capacity of 50TB+, the lightning fast RPC24 4004 series includes two removable magazines containing up to twelve SSDs or HDDs, each housed in rugged 2U (3.5″) panel height, 19.5″ deep enclosure. Incorporating aluminum and steel in its rugged construction, it series weighs 51 lbs with a full complement of 24 SSDs, is less than 20″ deep and is certified to military specifications MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461E.
