John Hill COO, Virtustream

Simon Walsh MD strategic markets, formerly SVP and COO for EMC EMEA

Virtustream, Inc., the enterprise public cloud provider and EMC company, announced the appointment of two new executives.

John Hill has joined the company as COO, and Simon Walsh moves from an executive position at EMC to assume the role of Virtustream’s MD, strategic markets.

Both executives will play key roles in helping the company continue to increase its share in the global enterprise cloud market as it aims to achieve multiple hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue in 2016.

Virtustream,hillJohn Hill, who will report to CEO Rodney Rogers, brings more than three decades of enterprise experience to the company. He will oversee the company’s full revenue cycle, including professional services, cloud platform delivery and global data center operations. He has extensive experience working with multi-billion dollar, global enterprises to achieve IT transformation. Prior to Virtustream, he was global CIO and head of global shared services at Veyance Technologies, where he was a customer of Virtustream. He has also served as CIO and CTO at Siemens IT Solutions & Services in North America, as CIO for Praxair one of the largest industrial gases companies in the world, and as CIO for Perkin Elmer / Applera. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.

Virtustream,walshSimon Walsh, who will also report to Rogers, will lead Virtustream’s global efforts to progress its global go-to-market (GTM) growth agenda. He was formerly SVP and COO for EMC EMEA, responsible for delivering growth through meeting the needs of EMC’s customers and driving transformation across the region towards a consultative solutions capability. He is also chairman of the Directors’ Forum Alumni, a not-for-profit organization focused on the development and preparation of non-executive directors through an alliance between Spencer Stuart and the London Business School. He has also held senior leadership roles at Colt Technology Services and Computacenter UK, Ltd.

Virtustream was acquired by EMC in July 2015. Its cloud software and services are already used by a number of Global 1,000 enterprises worldwide.
