Samsung Techwin and Veracity in Partnership
New WiseNet camera app records directly to disk.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 30, 2015 at 2:35 pmSamsung Techwin America, a subsidiary of Hanwha Techwin, announced a partnership with Veracity USA, Inc., in network video surveillance storage and IP transmission solutions.
Together they are launching TRINITY, an IP network video surveillance solution that does not require a network video recorder.
TRINITY takes advantage of the processing power of Samsung WiseNet III open platform cameras which enables it to simultaneously run multiple on-board edge based applications, including Veracity COLDSTORE ‘direct-to-storage’ recording solution.
“The capability to record and store metadata directly to COLDSTORE is particularly important as customers are increasingly specifying WiseNet III cameras to run applications that collect and analyse data using video analytics solutions,” said Tom Cook, VP sales, Samsung Techwin America. “The high quality images generated by the cameras provide valuable information for management to improve efficiencies as well as enhancing security.“
With TRINITY, users are able to take advantage of a scalable system which does not require a server or network recording device and yet supports audio and metadata as well as video in addition to offering features such as camera level fail-over and resilience to network interruptions. Substantial savings can be achieved on software licenses and NVR hardware costs normally incurred when an IP network recording system is required. With a COLDSTORE array of up to 120TB consuming 60 watts, there is also a potential 90% power saving compared to standard server based storage solutions.
“In simple terms, WiseNet III cameras are now able to write directly to disk with all of the associated benefits,” said Alastair McLeod, Veracity’s Group CEO. “The TRINITY architecture allows the Samsung WiseNet III cameras to record directly to COLDSTORE, while providing users with the option to retrieve and view the recorded images via our TRINITY Player utility or, more, by any third-party PSIM or VMS (Video Management System) client application that incorporates our easy to implement media SDK.“
Because of their high storage capacity and low power consumption, COLDSTORE HDD storage arrays are increasingly being specified for large scale surveillance installations or for projects with long video retention time requirements. As well, COLDSTORE has been designed from the ground up to increase disk reliability. The release of COLDSTORE Compact means that TRINITY is also suitable for systems with lower camera counts.
