Artec AOS 5.2 for Enterprise Managed Archive and VSTOR

Artec IT Solutions AG distribute his AOS 5.2 version to all eligible EMA (Enterprise Managed Archive) and VSTOR systems as an automatic update.

AOS 5.2 lets you connect storage systems directly to EMA or VSTOR. Support for DAS helps you manage your storage in a comfortable and cost-effective manner.

Customers with a full managed service contract can benefit from extended and improved monitoring capabilities. Automatic notifications can be sent to the company so that support engineers can initiate any required mitigation procedures.

The ‘SMART Link’ feature introduced in this version of AOS lets integrate EMA and VSTOR with primary applications, including many popular ERP and CRM systems.

AOS 5.2 at glance:

• Cost-effective storage management using DAS
  AOS 5.2 lets you connect and manage storage systems directly using EMA or VSTOR. We have extended the existing storage connectivity scenarios supported by the AOS volume manager so that it now provides full support for DAS. Simplify your storage workflow by making use of a reliable and easy to use RAID management system that is built right into the EMA and VSTOR web interface. You can also maximize the potential of our high-quality VSTOR Vault storage solutions by connecting them directly to a supported EMA or VSTOR appliance.

• Enhanced monitoring capabilities
  Customers with an active full managed service contract can leverage the enhanced monitoring capabilities introduced with AOS 5.2. To use these capabilities, simply enable Remote Administration Services (subject to separate charges). Alerts generated by VSTOR or EMA that are normally reported via SNMP traps or via e-mail will then be transmitted to an enhanced system health monitoring center hosted by us. If a problem occurs with an on-premise installation managed by Artec, we can immediately initiate the required mitigation procedures. We can also initiate further steps as specified in the maintenance contract, such as contacting a defined emergency contact and providing the information necessary to restore functionality as quickly as possible.

• SMART link: Integration into primary applications
  AOS 5.2 optionally supports company’s new SMART Link feature. It allows you to integrate EMA and VSTOR with primary applications, including many popular ECM, ERP, CRM, and DMS systems, such as SAP and MS-CRM. SMART Link also lets you integrate our appliances with expert systems, such as those found in the healthcare, government, finance, or insurance sectors. SMART Link is easy to set up, does not introduce additional dependencies, and does not require you to develop custom connectivity interfaces or user experiences. Our unparalleled search feature makes it possible to access all information related to a task directly from within your primary applications.

• Logging adjustments/improved error response
  Previous versions of AOS created an entry in the secure log file whenever a user attempted to make unauthorized changes to an administrator account and access was denied with an error message. We have removed logging this event in AOS 5.2, because preventing a user from making unauthorized changes is not a relevant event for the secure log file.

• Support for new hardware
  AOS 5.2 supports the latest hardware generations of the E15000 and E25000 appliance models, which are available for purchase.
