IBM ProtecTIER V3.4 Combined With TS7650G Gateway Server

TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway
April 2016 will mark the eighth anniversary of the acquisition of Diligent Technology. Over the past eight years, IBM has emerged as a leader in enterprise data deduplication. The combination of high scalability, dual node hardware redundancy, and gateway design from IBM are distinctive characteristics in the industry. IBM was among the first to integrate flash technology along with deduplication to boost performance and lower cost. It believes in the importance of cost-saving data deduplication technology and continues to enhance solution, improve value, and protect the ProtecTIER investment of installed base.
IBM plans to continue enhancements of its enterprise deduplication ProtecTIER family.
In the first half of 2016, IBM intends to:
- Release a new TS7650G gateway server and new ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V3 software with an integrated service interface, eliminating the need for a separate TS3000 Service Console
- Significantly reduce the amount of rack space required for ProtecTIER TS7650G gateway servers
- ProtecTIER gateway server rack space requirements are expected to be reduced to 2U from the current 7U design
- Clustered configuration rack space requirements are expected to be reduced to 2U from the current 14U design
Future enhancements are planned by the end of 2016 to increase the maximum capacity for a single ProtecTIER repository to 2PB and to include ProtecTIER within the software-defined family of products.
IBM often provides multiple solutions to meet the dynamics of a complex IT market. Both Spectrum Protect and ProtecTIER offer deduplication technology to reduce storage requirements and provide economic value. ProtecTIER is designed for enterprise clients requiring redundancy for HA, high throughput and superior deduplication efficiency.
IBM operates facilities around the world in Europe, North America, Central America, and Asia with personnel working on ProtecTIER. The company continues to market, sell, and support ProtecTIER as a strategic offering for cost-reducing deduplication technology.
The new ProtecTIER TS7650G gateway server will require ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V3.4 software.
