Oodrive No Longer Markets RKube Online
Now exclusively as white label solution for retailers, service providers and digital players
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 1, 2015 at 2:49 pmFrom 2013, Oodrive SA has provided RKube, its sync and share solution with 5GB of free storage capacity.
Since then, the competitive environment has changed a great deal, with the arrival of many free offers on the personal cloud market. These products are often financed by the monetisation of users’ data with advertising, something Oodrive refuses to do for ethical reasons, because the company’s respect of users’ right to privacy.
These new market conditions mean that Oodrive will no longer market RKube online, and is reviewing its distribution strategy: Oodrive will now be rolling out its RKube solution exclusively as a white label solution for retailers, service providers and digital players, under the name Oodrive Personal Cloud.
In connection with this new direction, RKube and its applications
will be renamed Oodrive Personal Cloud as of December 16.
- As a current RKube user, you will keep your existing free 5GB account with the same features
- The data you have stored in RKube remain unaffected. Only the name of the service, the applications and the synchronisation folder will change to Oodrive Personal Cloud.
- From this date, it will no longer be possible to create new accounts or increase the storage capacity of existing accounts.
This modification will be made automatically from December 16, via an update to users’ smartphone or tablet apps and the software on PC or Mac.
